Backyard Boho Baby Shower

Back in the summer of 2021, I had the pleasure of throwing and hosting a baby shower for Heather. She was one our very own wedding day assistants, as well as one of my best friends! It was the perfect July day to celebrate baby Ashton on the way. Heather’s parents’ backyard provided an idyllic outdoor setting for the event, and we had Miranda Stewart Photography there to capture all of the details and fun.

It also seemed like the perfect time to (finally) share this shower because Heather is expecting, again!! So excited for their sweet fam. We absolutely love baby showers — if you have an upcoming shower to plan, we’d love to hear from you!

Guest favors were bath bombs with a cute tag reading “boys are the BOMB!”
Guests used art supplies to create beautiful birth affirmations for Heather to display around the room while she was in labor. I love this personal and practical idea!
The subtle nautical and watercolor details were a nod to where Heather & Josh got engaged — Heceta Head Lighthouse! Sugar Pie Bakeshop always does such an incredible job with her custom cookie designs.
One of my favorite details were these DIY charcuterie cups filled with yummy nuts, meats, cheese, and crackers.

I love looking back on these photos from this special day… I guess now it’s time to get started planning the next shower! ;)

    What a beautiful, easygoing backyard setup — the boho touches, the DIY charcuterie cups, and the birth-affirmation activity all feel so thoughtful and personal. It also made me think about how helpful a temporary kitchen (or even a simple mobile kitchen rental) can be when you’re hosting outdoors and want food prep and cleanup to stay effortless — especially if you’re pairing it with guest comfort extras like shower access (shower-rental.com/iowa/algona comes to mind for that kind of support).
