When Quenton first contacted me about his wedding, I have to say, I was a little skeptical. For one, rarely does the groom contact me instead of the bride. And secondly, it was just a couple of months before he was planning to get married, and he had kind of a crazy story to go along with it. Quenton told me about his beautiful soon-to-be bride Mayela, and how they met in Nicaragua. They had been engaged for two years, and Mayela was finally in the states on a fiance visa. They had to get married by July 11th, which gave us less than two months to plan! At the time, this seemed like a tall order considering they didn’t have any details figured out at that point. No matter how crazy this all sounded to me, I met with the two of them at Full City Coffee in Eugene and instantly adored them. They are both so sweet and after talking about what they were hoping for for their wedding, I knew that I wanted to help them make it happen. Initially Quenton was just interested in hiring me for coordination, but after meeting and realizing all that had to be done in such a short amount of time, they decided to hire me for full-service planning.
They knew they wanted to get married somewhere on the McKenzie River, and Belknap Hot Springs ended up being the perfect location. Before their venue walk-thru, I had never been to Belknap before but I instantly fell in love with this gorgeous location! They decided to hold the ceremony in the Chinese Garden area and then have the reception on the Celebration Lawn. Read on for more details about their beautiful day, and enjoy the photos taken by family friend Josh Barnes.
Mayela’s family live in Nicaragua and were unable to attend the wedding, so Quenton’s dad walked her down the aisle, which was super sweet! The newlyweds are currently planning their second wedding to take place in Nicaragua. :)
I got to bring a few of my favorite vendors on board for this wedding, including Anastasia Floral Design who did the bouquets and boutonnieres. The blue, white, and yellow hues looked so perfect with the bridesmaid’s gorgeous blue dresses!
The adorable flower girls… I loved their yellow dresses that Quenton found online! The blues and yellows coordinated so perfectly throughout the bridal party.
Jana Fitch Cakes created a truly adorable heart-shaped cake for Quenton & Mayela. Jana said that originally she was dreading making a cake of this shape, but then it ended up being one of her favorite cakes! It looked, and tasted, fantastic. She also provided some delicious cupcakes that guests gobbled up, not leaving one behind!
Congratulations, Quenton and Mayela!! I had such a wonderful time with you two, and I hope that married life is treating you great so far. :)
